NAIROBI NATIONAL PARK & ELEPHANT ORPHANAGE TOUR
Enjoy a fantastic game viewing drive early morning or late afternoon at the Nairobi National Park which borders the Capital. This excursion is ideal for the tourist who is here for a short stay or wants to experience the wild while in the city.
Nairobi National Park Kenya’s first-ever National Park is a unique and unspoiled wildlife haven within sight of the city’s skyline. Rhino, buffalo, cheetah, zebra, giraffe, lion and plenty of antelopes and gazelles can be seen roaming in this open plains country with a section of highland forest as well as stretches of broken bush country, deep, rocky valleys and gorges with scrub and long grass. It is home to the 4 of the big 5, except the elephant. Ornithologists catch with over 300 bird species including the Secretary bird, crowned cranes, vultures, peckers and many more.
Sheldrick Wildlife Trust’s Orphan’s project, located in a secluded area of the Nairobi National Park, where orphaned baby elephants, rhinos and other animals are taken care of by a dedicated team of conservationists. At 1100 Hours, the baby animals are brought from the National Park for a mud-bath at the orphanage, where for an hour you can get close to them and sometimes touch them. You may not feed the animals but will get a chance to view the handlers feeding them.
ITINERARY
6:00 am: Pick up from your City Hotel/ residence and depart to the National park.
6:45 pm: On arrival at Nairobi National Park begin game viewing drive in search for the Big 4 (No elephants here)
10:00 pm: Picnic Breakfast or at a coffee house
10:30 pm: Transfer to the Elephant Orphanage
11:00 pm: Feeding of the orphaned baby elephants
12:30 pm: Drop off at your Nairobi residence
